Thermal,California (1 March, 2019) - Porsche Trophy West USA completes second day of 2019 testing at The Thermal Club.
Drivers of Porsche Trophy West USA took to the asphalt at The Thermal Club for the second day, to put the final touches on their Porsche machines before the start of the 2019 season. With the new season comes a special surprise for the fans of Porsche Trophy West USA and for Porsche enthusiasts around the world.
Series driver, Martin Brauns arrived Wednesday with his brand new Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup MR. This car is currently one of only seven in the world, and is the first of four anticipated to race during Porsche Trophy West USA’s 2019 season.
The excitement was notable around the paddock this week as drivers and teams would stop by to admire the impressive machine. This was only possible when Brauns was not on the track shaking down the newly delivered Porsche GT3 Cup MR.
“I originally started running with the Porsche GT4 Clubsport and I really enjoyed it,” said Brauns. “For a variety of reasons, I decided it was time to try a more advanced car and I ordered the Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup MR. This is our first couple of days with the car and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I’m chipping away a few seconds here and there and putting up some respectable lap times, but there is certainly more work to do. I thoroughly enjoy the series. The Competent Motorsport team does a fantastic job with the events.”
The arrival of the Porsche GT3 Cup MR is just a small piece of the excitement leading up to Porsche Trophy West USA’s 2019 season opener at The Thermal Club next month. Competent Motorsport’s President, Greg Franz spoke briefly with enthusiasm.
“I’m excited about a number of things for this season,” said Franz. “We have a very diverse schedule for 2019. We’re returning to venues that we have certainly enjoyed in the past and we will be visiting a new one this year, Virginia International Raceway. We will also be going back to an old favorite, Portland International Raceway. It’s going to be a very well-rounded season for us.”
Porsche Trophy West USA will return to The Thermal Club, March 22-24 for the first round of the 2019 season.
