Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA West Racing Series
Regulations – 2012
The 2012 Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy racing series, featuring Porsche 996 and 997 GT3 Cup cars is a racing series dedicated to providing a safe racing environment for all participants where on race weekends drivers compete on venues while racing …On Track with Competence.
The Series will be run in conjunction with the Porsche Owners Club, Porsche Club of America, SCCA, NASA and other sanctioned amateur/professional motorsport events in 2012 (refer to 2012 Schedule) throughout the United States.
Eligible Cars
The spirit of the Series is to keep the cars equal and minimize the number of permissible changes. Any change not specifically authorized is PROHIBITED. Violations are subject to penalties or exclusion. “Stock” means that the parts are unmodified and as originally supplied from Porsche.
The eligible model year cars are as listed below:
- Porsche Factory GT3 Cup Cars
- Body Style Porsche 996 and 997 GT3 Cup cars
- Platinum - Porsche 997 GT3 Cup Cars (Model Years 2010-2012)
- Gold - Porsche 997 GT3 Cup cars (Model Years 2006-2009)
- Silver - Porsche 996 GT3 Cup cars (Model Year 2000-2005)
Entrant/Participant/Driver Requirements
Entrant/Participant/Driver are solely responsible for assuring their car is technically safe and meets compliance to all safety issues by our sanctioning body for participation in a competitive weekend driving/racing event. Competent Motorsport is not responsible for the technical safety of any car participating in the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA West racing series.
Eligibility
The Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy racing series is open to amateur and Club drivers only. Competent Motorsport reserves the right, in its sole discretion to reject any driver deemed to be a “professional driver”.
A driver must meet the following criteria, unless exception is made by Competent Motorsport:
- Minimum age of 18 years old
- Proof of current physical examination (within 3 months of Series commencement)
- Current racing driver’s license sanctioned by PCA, POC, SCCA, NASA, FIA or equivalent sanctioning body accepted by Competent Motorsport
- Competent Motorsport License Fee ($200 per season)
- Competent Motorsport will determine eligibility of drivers at its sole discretion
Safety Equipment
All Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA racing series drivers are required to wear a Hans System at all sanctioned events and during all sessions on the track. Driver and car safety equipment must meet the code of our code.
13/13 Policy
During the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy racing series the 13/13 policy and penalty will be used as a “deterrent”, making it a penalty for an “on-track” contact and not penalizing the driver for an “off-track” single contact incident. With Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy racing series personnel at the black flag station, we will have the necessary conversation to stop any inappropriate action “off the track”. For any “off-track” incidents that occur, a notation will be entered into the driver’s Series logbook accordingly. Continuing to engage in “off-track” incidents will result in the driver not being able to compete in the Series until reinstated by the Series Race Steward.
Technical Specification Overview
Below are the technical specifications for the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy USA West racing series, featuring Porsche Factory 996 and 997 GT3 Cup Cars Specifications used by Competent Motorsport. These specifications are published in order for competitors to prepare their car for the Series. Competent Motorsport does not expect to make substantial changes to these specifications, but reserves the right to do so.
