Info: Greg Franz 949.851.4731 gfranz@competentms.com Yokohama Drivers Cup USA: Compete with Competence NEWPORT BEACH, CA August 16, 2007 – Two thousand years ago it was Veni, Vidi, Vici. At Road America the first weekend of August, it was they came, they competed and they excelled. The latest event of the Yokohama Drivers Cup USA was held in Elkhart Lake, WI at one of the most competitive tracks in America. The drivers raced their Porsche GT3 996 and 997 Cup Cars on the fourteen turn, four mile course in a weekend of activities that solidified the recognition of the series as a unique and highly effective blend of racing and education to bring drivers to the next level of skill and competence. “As at our last race weekend, we had Porsche factory driver Patrick Long and Craig Stanton, Director of Coaching for the Drivers Cup USA, providing top-line coaching,” noted Greg Franz, Executive Director of Drivers Cup USA. “We are proud of the fact that we provide the most one-on-one time with professional drivers. Our series is not just another driving school with exercises in a parking lot. It is about personalized coaching during a weekend of multiple races at a variety of race tracks around the country.” “We were impressed by the professionalism and collegiality exhibited by the race organizers and the participants.” An integral part of the weekends are seminars by the series’ technical partners. At Road America, Stand 21 talked about heat stress, its effects on a driver, and how to avoid it. MoTeC Systems explained the intricacies of data acquisition and how to translate that information into improved lap times. And at the next event at Laguna Seca, CA, KW Automotive will explain the workings of adjustable shock absorbers, and how to change their settings to make both the driver and car better performers.” “One of our participants noted the collegiality of the event,” said Franz. “That is an integral part of our program. When I look back on my school days, it was in the classes that were fun where I learned the most. We believe that camaraderie only enhances the educational process.” Yokohama Drivers Cup USA will be at Laguna Seca, CA on August 24 – 26 for its next event.
