Info: Greg Franz 949.851.4731 gfranz@competentms.com Yokohama Drivers Cup USA: Exceeding Expectations NEWPORT BEACH, CA April 11, 2007 – The infomercials say you can make millions on your ideas alone. They do not tell you that the gulf between conception and execution is Grand Canyon wide. An idea less than a year ago was turned into successful reality the last weekend of March at California Speedway in Fontana, CA with the inaugural event of the Yokohama Drivers Cup USA series: “A great start. You exceeded everyone’s expectations.” “Was very impressed by the organization.” “Your format is perfect for the development of a driver as it integrates great instruction with a high frequency of application. I also enjoyed the camaraderie of the drivers as there was a healthy balance of shared advancement and competition.” Featuring Porsche GT3 996 and 997 Cup Cars, the Yokohama Drivers Cup USA is a unique race series focused on helping drivers become competent racers. With a blend of education, one-on-one coaching and multiple races a weekend, drivers learn in an enjoyable atmosphere the tools needed to advance to higher levels of racing, upon their choosing. “With the help of Porsche Motorsport North America and all of our technical partners, we were able to kick off our series with a winning weekend for our 22 participants,” said Greg Franz, President of Competent Motorsport, LLC. “Porsche factory driver Patrick Long and Craig Stanton gave race-rich individualized coaching to each driver. The Motec tech talk provided an insiders look on the use of data acquisition. At every level, it was a successful inauguration for our series: good car count, an effective educational process, and a safe and entertaining weekend for everyone.” “The weekend also saw another technical partner join our growing series. We welcomed KW Automotive, known for their suspensions for Peterson White Lightening and Flying Lizard Porsche race teams. Their championship winning expertise will be a strong asset to our series drivers.” “The series participants will have the opportunity to take advantage of KW’s expertise in Porsche specific racing coilovers,” said Klaus Wohlfarth, CEO and President of KW automotive North America. “KW’s leading edge valve technology has resulted in better control of low speed piston movements, reduction in tire wear and increased road feel and performance for the drivers. Coupled with KW’s technical seminars at selected events, racers are able to learn first hand from KW’s engineers what it takes to dial in their race cars.” Yokohama Drivers Cup USA moves east for its next event at Watkins Glen, NY on June 14 – 17.
