GT Technik Looks forward to COTA

August 28, 2017 – Irvine, Calif. – After a hard fought double podium in the thin air of Utah, racing to second place on Saturday and following up on Sunday the GT Technik team prepares for a “Showdown in the Lone Star State” at Circuit of the Americas in Austin. This weekend the team will be racing in honor of the people in Texas who have been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

GT Technik is fired up about the series going to Austin and Circuit of the Americas – a favorite track of the team. The GT3 Cup is well suited for this type of track and the guys have been working hard at the shop to make sure the 07 machine will be in top shape for Max.

“We are the smallest team in the paddock but we are growing and improving every race weekend,” said Kutyba Fabryce, GT Technik’s Director of Motorsport. “We have proven that we can run up front and challenge for the overall win against larger teams and more experienced drivers, every weekend finishing on the podium every weekend since the series commenced. It’s been a blessing to have Max Root join GT Technik, his maturity, consistency along with his natural talent as a driver has been impressive to say the least, after all this is only his 6th weekend of wheel to wheel racing.”

The entire team is looking forward to its visit to Circuit of the Americas this weekend.

“Personally, I am looking forward to COTA as some of the guys I raced with years ago will be joining us this weekend to support our efforts notably Dave Peters and Julius Tanzo,” continued Fabryce. “I really like GT3 Cup Trophy as it’s also my return to Porsche racing.

It’s great to see guys that I have raced against for over 15 years such as Aasco, 911 Design, Competition Motorsport and Truspeed offer their congratulation’s along with their support during the race weekends.  That in itself is a rarity in today’s competitive motorsport environment. This has been an amazing experience; the competition has been first class and extremely competitive in GT3 Trophy Cup. It’s been great to learn from the some of the veterans of the series like Loren Beggs of 911 Design who I find myself battling with every weekend.   The series officials have been first class as well, Craig Stanton has been a valuable asset with his years of experience in top levels of racing. His guidance for the series and drivers has been priceless.”

Root currently sits second in the Diamond class championship.

“I’m looking forward to COTA, I really like high-speed technical tracks and COTA’s configuration is something I look forward to,” said Root. “ Not to mention the fans in Texas are some of the best out there so it should be a fun weekend.  We’re second in points with two more race weekends after COTA , so the pressure is on to perform.  I’m looking forward to great weekend with the team and my family who is coming out to support us.”

Driver Coach Dieter Heinz has been impressed with Root’s progression through the year.

“Max is an amazing talent and the team has really come together to rally behind him this season,” said Heinz. “Max’s raw talent and ability to understand input and translate that into faster lap times every weekend shows his ability as a driver.  We are looking forward to developing Max for years to come.”

Team Crew Chief Prince Ayala noted: “Max is really a pleasure to work with he’s very easy on equipment and always gets the best out of the GT3 Cup.  It’s a pleasure to work with a driver who makes our job easier in the garage at the track and back at home. That’s a far cry from what I am use to coming from the Trophy Truck world.  I couldn’t ask for a more dedicated group of guys to work with.  This is more than a team it’s a family and we’re looking forward to growing to include a few more cars in 2018.”
